Mitsubishi Mirage hailed by SA motoring media

What do the motoring journos at Car magazine, Driven magazine, IOL Motoring and the Sun Daily (amongst others) have in common? They all hail the newly launched Mitsubishi Mirage! Described as “petite but potent”, “a zippy city car”, “easy to park”, “a solid run around with just the right features” and “the most fuel efficient non-hybrid petrol car available on the American market”, the Mirage has quickly made quite the name for itself in South African circles. So much so, that Bernard K Hellberg SR from Driven magazine explains that “there are few, if any, rivals in its price range, build quality is good and the design is inoffensively modern and the 12 month insurance add-on could be a deal-clincher. The insurance add-on that Hellberg SR is referring to is part of McCarthy Mitsubishi’s ‘Back to Varsity’ Mirage special. You get a brand new Mirage from only R1 899 per month, with a complimentary two year and/or ...

The Pajero hits the big screen... the Paris Motor Show, that is!

More electric vehicles for Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi has announced it will be releasing two plug-in hybrid cars to its current model range, and we have the success of the Outlander to thank for it. These will be green variants of the Pajero SUV and next-generation ASX compact crossover, with the ASX to be launched internationally in 2016 and plug-in hybrid variant a year later. The Pajero plug-in version will arrive in Europe in 2018. The move is said to be inspired by the success of the Mitsubishi Outlander Plugin Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), which earned the Large SUV Of The Year award and the Innovation award from the Association of Professional Motoring Press Awards. These announcements come after the brand revealed an Outlander PHEV Concept-S at the Paris Auto Show earlier this month. The updated Outlander features chromed grille accents, a prominent badge and wraparound headlamps, as well as wide set combination taillights highlighted with further chrome finishes. In terms of size, it measures at 4760mm long, 1840mm wide, 170 ...

Mitsubishi to put the Outlander through its paces

Electric cars? Cool. Good for the environment too. But tough? Never! This is the thought most people have on the new breed of green cars. Sure, they get better looking as models evolve, and they don’t use as much fuel, which is convenient, but few people would dream of taking one out of the suburbs, let alone the city. That is, until they meet the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV , the world's first plug-in hybrid SUV. Unlike other green cars, it is willing to put its neck on the line to prove that it is able to tackle the off-road as well as the next gas guzzling SUV. The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV has been entered into the 2014 Australasian Safari global rally race as part of Team Mitsubishi Ralliart Australia. Having previously cut its teeth in the Thailand and Cambodia Asia Cross Country Rally in previous years, the Outlander PHEV is throwing itself into the Australasian Safari as the first plug-in hybrid four-wheel drive to be entered into an Australian motorsport event. The race will ...
