Marvellous Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Concept S steals the show

The Paris International Motor Show is a popular platform for automotive manufacturers to showcase their latest and greatest design and/or engineering feats. And that’s exactly what Mitsubishi has done with the striking Outlander PHEV Concept S. While the Outlander PHEV has been making its appearance at motor shows for a while now, the PHEV Concept S unveiling came as a pleasant surprise. What makes the Outlander PHEV Concept S different from the Outlander PHEV, which caused quite the stir, is the fact that the former is a plug-in hybrid model. In other words, the Outlander PHEV Concept S boasts a twin-motor plug-in hybrid engine. Combining a 2.0-litre that produces 89KW and 190Nm with a battery-powered electric motor situated on each axle. The electric motor on the front axle produces 60KW and 137Nm and the rear-axle mounted electric motor churns out an impressive additional 60KW and 190Nm. Mitsubishi’s twelve-time winning Dakar Champ gets upgrade

Exciting times lie ahead as the legendary Mitsubishi Pajero will be undergoing an upgrade in 2015. The rally rebel will be receiving a facelift with a new grille and bumper and an overall chunkier design boasting switchable daytime running LED lighting. But perhaps most exciting of all is what’s going on under the hood of the 2015 Pajero.The 3.2-litre DI-D turbocharged diesel engine produces 140 KW at 3 800 rpm with a whopping 441Nm or torque. This is driven by a five speed automatic gearbox that has a manual override functionality, enabling you to take control while pulling off the technical off-road manoeuvres that Pajero is so renowned for. The Pajero range has been simplified as well. As of 2015, there will only be three model derivatives on the market, rather than the four derivatives we are currently familiar with.
